Big news and then big quiet. What's up with that, huh? Well, here's the deal, but to tell it I have to go into some details so bear with me.
Every month "you ladies know who" comes to visit me. She and I are not really good friends at all and lately our relationship is getting worse. She comes to visit more often than she should and she brings friends with her. Anxiety and depression. It used to be that I would have one day of one of these issues and then it would pass. Last month I battled feelings of depression and anxiety for at least three days, and it was not fun. I'm sure I was no fun to be around those few days either.
Fast forward to now. She's back and she's brought her friends with her again. Coming right on the back of committing to adopt the child that I feel sure God meant for us to commit to is messing with my head. I should be happy, right? But, instead I'm feeling anxious and depressed. It's making me doubt the decision we have made and I have to constantly remind myself of how God has worked and that this is definitely His will for us and for Liza. I keep reminding myself of where she will be if we don't bring her into our family. Reminding myself that these feelings WILL pass.
I do believe that the enemy will attack us when we are following the Father's will. I think that some of what is going on with me is just that. I just keep praying for my joy to return and for these feelings to subside. I want to be happy about these new steps we are taking. Won't you pray with me? Next post needs to be much happier than this one.

Coveting More Prayers
My dear hubby just found out yesterday that he has Rheumatoid Arthritis. He is trying really hard to be strong, but it is very obvious to me that it is really bothering him A LOT. I know he is worried about what it will do to his body and how he will be able to continue to care for his family. I am just trying to stay positive and hope that with treatment he will be able to enjoy doing all the things he's become used to doing.
If you want to pray for us we would so appreciate it right now. I believe that God can even work this for good in the end and am holding on to that. Besides that, He could also choose to heal him totally. We really just need peace, I know that Rick is stressed and I hate to think of him being anxious over this issue.
Thanks to everyone who prayed for me and my anxiety issues-I truly did feel a huge difference and I know that prayer can open doors and move mountains.

Fasten Your Seatbelts Everybody!
It looks like the ride may be ready to begin!
I got a call the other day from the wonderful ladies who are conducting our foster care training and they are coming out on Monday to go ahead and get us emergency certified. YAY!!
Apparently, at this time they are at a critical shortage of foster families, they keep having children come into care, and they are scrambling to place them. Since we have all of our background stuff already done, fingerprints done, and are one class away from being done with our training they have asked us to be ready early in case the have another case like this past week where they had 8 children, two sibling sets, come into care and had the hardest time finding placements for them.
We are pretty excited and ready to see what God is going to bring our way and at the same time it's bittersweet. I have to admit though that sometimes I think about the situations that would bring a child into our home through foster care and it makes me sad. I wish that children weren't being hurt by the ones who are supposed to protect them.

Update on the Update
I really want. to. SCREAM.
Remember I posted about the Adoption Update? Well, I spoke too soon. Social Worker was taking forever to get back to us as to whether she was finished so we finally called her and she has found something else she needs before she can be done. I am so frustrated and angry. I really feel like a lot of this has just been her way of holding us up in hopes LB will be matched with someone else. She does not want us to adopt her and they were supposed to have her staffing May 1st.
All I can do is pray, I know that God has promised that she is our child. I have been questioning it and thinking that I was mistaken, but I know that what He spoke was what He meant. During church this morning I started looking up verses that dealt with promise, Hebrews 11:33 seemed to be the one that spoke to me: "...through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions,". I'm praying for favor, that the mouths of the lions would be shut, and that Rick and I would both continue to have faith.
Will you pray with us? I am so tired of all this. I just want to have this homestudy done and be officially matched with my child.

Foster Care Prayer Vigil
I copied the excerpt below from the blog of another mother who is passionate about adoption and the plight of orphans abroad and here at home. Prayer is definitely needed when we are talking about the state of foster care here in the States. Sometimes I think it's not a lack of caring and willing people to step in that is the problem but rather the crud they have to put up with in order to help the kids. I have BTDT and don't have a problem saying that things need to change. I'm realizing that the saying " Be the change you want to see" is right on. Nothing is ever going to change by just talking about it, something has to be done. I believe that prayer is powerful, especially corporate prayer like they are calling for. I hope that thousands of people in churches around our nation get involved with this. I look forward to seeing God work in the foster care system of America, I'm ready to see kids' lives change.

National Foster Care Prayer Vigil and Your Church
"All of a sudden I was awakened in the middle of the night by people wearing black clothing with badges. I didn't know what was happening ... my brother (Anthony) and I were crying. We were hurt, and we were full of pain. Only God knew what was to become of us.The police took us to the police station. There, they let us sleep in the back of the car until it was morning. The next day Ant and I were taken to a big house to live until our social worker came to take us to a new family ... whenever it was nighttime, I lay awake while Ant was fast asleep. I was crying so much it really hurt, and I was full of sorrow and pain. Sometimes I would even sit at the edge of my bed and call out my mother's name frantically ..."-- Chris, 11, who entered foster care with his brother at ages 5 and 4
Children quietly enter foster care due to circumstances beyond their control, including abuse, abandonment, neglect, and substance abuse on the part of their primary caretakers. They're often shuffled from home to home. Some are eventually returned safely home. Others are blessed through adoption. Unfortunately, so many fall through the cracks and languish for years in group homes, long-term foster homes, and shelters.
Co-sponsored by FamilyLife's Hope for Orphans, Focus on the Family, and Shaohannah's Hope, the first annual National Foster Care Prayer Vigil will be held the week of May 19-25, 2008. During this momentous week, Christians will gather in churches and elsewhere across the United States to go before God in praying for our nation's foster children, as well as their foster and adoptive families, their birth families, and their workers.
Would you consider participating in a prayer vigil in your city? If there is not currently one scheduled, would you consider organizing one? If you are led to participate in or facilitate a prayer vigil in your city, please take the time to visit our website at www.fostercareprayervigil.org to learn how. There you will find materials to help you, as well as a registration page and map displaying local vigils throughout the nation.
